AMARGOSA VALLEY, NEVADA - JULY 21: A sign for the Alien Cathouse brothel is seen next door to a convenience store named the Area 51 Alien Center located along U.S. highway 95 on July 21, 2019 in Amargosa Valley, Nevada. A Facebook event entitled, "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us," which the author meant as a joke, suggested the attendees to meet up at the colorful tourist attraction before storming the highly classified U.S. Air Force facility on September 20, 2019, to address a conspiracy theory that the U.S. government is conducting tests with space aliens. We thought you’d find this interesting.  Us Nevadans know that our state has its…uh…unique features. One of those is legal prostitution in much of the state, including right up the road in Nye County.

Now, a national advocacy group – the National Center on Sexual Exploitation – is suing (among others) Governor Sisolak, Attorney General Ford, Nye County, and…Clark County and the City of Las Vegas (?) to try and shut it down, saying that Nevada’s legal brothels are engaging in sex trafficking and slavery. (Do we need to point out that prostitution is quite illegal in all of Clark County, including the city of Las Vegas?)

We hate sex trafficking and slavery. We love quirky Nevada. We’ll leave it to you to decide how you feel about all the lawsuit. (You can read the whole legal complaint thingy here if you want to.)

Luckily, brothels or no, Nevada is full of curiosities, including the weird pictures you’re about to see. (And, yeah, while we love the Silver & Black, some Raiders fans fit right in with the Silver State’s whole curious vibe.)
