I recently read an article on 'Today Parenting' about a mom saying that "if you don't occasionally show up to the car line in an old t-shirt and without make-up, we can't be friends." This made me laugh because, Dads do it, too. Not the make-up part...well, most of us don't wear make-up. But, to each his own.
It reminded me of a time, years ago, when my kids were much younger, I was dropping my daughter off at daycare. Normally, I'd get up early enough to go ahead and get ready for work, throw myself together, then take her. But this day, I hit snooze a couple extra times then had to rush out of bed, get my daughter together and drive her to day care in the shorts and old shirt I slept in.
When I went in to drop my daughter in her class, I ran into a friend that I hadn't seen since high school. But, this wasn't just any friend. This was the girl I had a crush on from 6th to 12th grade. I had to do the whole "Hey, how have you been?" routine complete with eye boogers and morning breath.
So, yea, sometimes we drop the kids off a little disheveled. But let this be a lesson: You never know who you're going to run into, so at least carry some Tic-Tacs.
